A life beautifully lived

Eleanor Margaret Walsh was born on a crisp autumn morning in 1942 in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales — the third of five children to Thomas and Mary Connelly. From her earliest years, Eleanor had a gift for making people feel seen and loved.

She met her beloved husband Robert at a dance in 1963, and they were married two years later in St Patrick's Cathedral, Wagga Wagga. Together they built a home in Baulkham Hills and raised four children — James, Catherine, Patrick, and little Rose — filling the house on Merindah Road with laughter, music, and the smell of her legendary apple cake.

Eleanor spent thirty years as a primary school teacher at Our Lady of the Rosary, where generations of children learned not just their letters, but kindness. She retired in 2002 but never stopped learning — mastering watercolour painting in her seventies and winning three prizes at the Hills District Art Show.

She is remembered for her warmth, her wit, her extraordinary garden, and her ability to find something to celebrate in every single day.
